Lynn Nalepa
Technician Supervisor

Lynn brings 18 years of experience as a technician to Dupont Veterinary Clinic. She attended West Virginia University and graduated at the top of her class from Fairmont State University’s Veterinary Technology program. Upon graduation, her first few years were spent in general practice working with large, small, and exotic animals. She then enjoyed the bulk of her career in the referral setting, primarily in emergency, critical care, and radiation oncology. “I am dedicated to providing high quality nursing care to the pets of Dupont when they need it most.” In her off time Lynn enjoys spending time with her family and Tinkerbell, her standard parti poodle.

Erick Gaitan
Technician

Erick is originally from El Salvador where he was
a registered human nurse, laboratory technician
and phlebotomist for 6 years. After moving to the United States, he began a career as a veterinary
technician working in general practice and 24 hour
emergency care. He has been with Dupont Veterinary Clinic since November of 2001. At home, he has an Occi cat named “Pequitas” (little freckles) and a Maine Coon mix “Kirita” who let's him floss her teeth every morning. His hobby is usually working 7 days a week, but also loves to dance.

Leslie Kaleikau
Technician

Leslie graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2008 with a major in Animal Science. She joined Dupont Vet Clinic in the summer of 2008 and is planning on applying to veterinary school at some point. She is currently settling into her new apartment in the district, where she can enjoy the city life along with a shorter commute. Her hobbies include spending time with family, friends, and animals of all shapes and sizes. While at work, she enjoys giving ear scratches and belly rubs to all the animals here.

Cindy Sanders
Technician

Cindy was raised in Carroll County, Maryland and attended the University of Maryland, College Park. Go Terps! She graduated with a B.S. in Biology-Zoology in 2000. Deciding to advance in the veterinary medical field, Cindy went back to school and completed an A.A. in veterinary technology in 2007. Passing the state and national boards to become a licensed technician, she then joined the DVC family full time. Cindy’s hobbies include spending time with her husband, her “Heinz-57” dog “Andy”, visiting family and friends, and reading.

Verna Burr
Receptionist

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Verna grew up in Ocean City, Maryland. Divorced with no children, Verna considers her cats her family and children. She has owned large dogs most of her adult life, but for now is enjoying the company of her cats. Her position as receptionist here started 10/02 and she came from the Richmond Va area with 14 years veterinary experience. One of the services offered by our clinic is assisting clients with insurance questions and claims of all types and this is handled primarily by Verna. She enjoys reading mostly mysteries and watching international and BBC murder mysteries. Also loves cooking all types of food and socializing with friends. Her plans do include retiring from Dupont Vet Clinic at a much later date and then enjoying fine wine and food.

Jeremy Hall
Office Manager

Jeremy was born and raised in North Carolina. He attended UNC-Greensboro and graduated with a B.A. in English and a Minor in Environmental Science. While in college, he interned at the Natural Science Center Zoo. Jeremy moved to DC six years ago to follow his career in human resources and theater management, but is now happy to be back in an animal related field. When not at work, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his cats, Shanti and Shadow, and watching college basketball. Go Tarheels!

Andrew Shaw

Andrew comes to us from Indiana, where he received a BA in Psychology from Indiana University. While in college he worked in remodeling and following graduation he spent 3 years in New Orleans remodeling homes after hurricane Katrina. Andrew came to the DC area in 2009 and joined the DVC team. The clinic takes full advantage of his construction abilities as he has become the “handy man” of Dupont Vet Clinic. He currently lives in DC with his wife and their 3 ½ year old beagle mix named Baxter, who was rescued from a shelter in New Orleans.

Katie

After going to school and living in NYC for 9 years, Katie returned to her hometown of DC and has been with DVC since July 2008. Outside of work, Katie enjoys writing, biking, and horror movies. She lives with three kitties: Lydia, the grumpy old lady, and siblings, Eva and Charlie, who are polydactyl and actually used to be in a touring circus.

Yolanda Aderele

Yolanda was born and spent half of her childhood in California before moving to the DC area. She attended military school and served in the Army as a medic before beginning her work with animals. She has over 10 years of veterinary experience and became a certified Vetertinary Assistant in 2005. She joined The Dupont Veterinary Clinic in 2009 and enjoys spending time with her two children in her off time.

Emily Forline

Emily is originally from the DC metro area and joined The Dupont Veterinary Clinic in August of 2010. She attended Dartmouth College where she played soccer and received a degree in biology. She then went on to Tufts Veterinary School where she earned a Masters in Animals and Public Policy. Emily is a valuable asset to the clinic and was voted as DVC's first Employee of the Quarter. She currently lives in the Dupont Circle neighborhood.

Kathy McNamara

Kathy is from Silver Spring, MD and joined The Dupont Veterinary Clinic in July of 2011. She graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a BS in Biology and spent four years as a zookeeper at the Baltimore Zoo. While there she had the opportunity to work with many different species but was primarily involved with african penguins. Kathy is enjoying the shorter commute to Dupont and has easily become part of our tight knit group. She currently lives in Takoma Park and is excited to be owning a dog of her own soon.

Whitney Collins

Whitney hails from Oklahoma where she received her BA in Mass Communications from Northeastern State University. Following graduation she joined AmeriCorps St. Louis and spent a year involved in disaster response. Whitney moved to DC in 2007 and joined DVC in 2010. She currently lives in Dupont and is looking to adopt a puppy soon.

Jessy Napper

Jessy has been working with animals for the majority of her life. She has raised 5 dogs, chickens, turkeys and pigs and has worked on a dairy farm. She has been employed as a dogwalker for a local company as well as the Washington Animal Rescue League. Jessy attended the University of Maryland, College Park and received a degree in Psychology. She became an organic farmer and while she no longer does it full time, she still spends a great deal of time in her garden.

My professional grooming experience is going on six years now, but my life long love for animals has made me the groomer I am today. I take pride in my work and treat each pet as if he/she is my own. My goal is to keep your pet healthy and clean, while helping my clients understand how to correctly maintain their pet's coat. I am confident that my clients are satisfied with their pet after grooming, however, if there is any room for improvement, feel free to make any suggestions. I appreciate your business.

Simon, one of our hospital cats, came to us in order to better control his diabetes. His current duties include pestering the front desk, teasing visiting dogs, begging for food from everyone, and being loved on by the entire staff. Jason

Jason, another diabetic cat living at the clinic, prefers to spend his time in our lab and in his make shift bed there. Jason's particular talents include spending time in the lab sink, lying on the chairs at the front desk, locking himself in closets, hiding on days when his blood is required, and trying to beat up all the dogs in the clinic.
