Dr. Margaret Hollis
Hospital Director

Dr. Hollis is originally from Southern California. She attended Michigan State University on a softball scholarship and earned her veterinary degree there as well. She completed a one year internship at a referral hospital in Virginia following veterinary school. A desire for city life, as well as a sister and three nephews, brought Dr. Hollis to D.C.  She joined our team at DVC in February 2006. Dr. Hollis shares her home with her adorable miniature wire-haired dachshunds named Greta and Helmut.  She got married in May 2008 to William Fortier.  Her free time is spent with her husband renovating their home on Capitol Hill.  You may see her cruising around town on her new Vespa!


Dr. Darleen Saini
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Saini is originally from Troy, MI.  She attended Tuskegee University 's School of Veterinary Medicine and received her DVM in May 2009.  Following graduation, Dr. Saini worked for over a year at the Michigan Humane Society in Detroit, MI and gained plenty of experience in surgery and emergency care.  She relocated to Washington, DC in the fall of 2010 with her husband, Vikram, and joined the team at DVC in October 2010.  She enjoys spending her free time with her Golden Retriever mix, Raja, her Husky mix Lily, and her family and friends.


Dr. Brenda Vail
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Vail grew up in New York and Boston and graduated from Simmons College in Boston. She spent several years practicing human research in the Department of Hematology and Oncology at Children's Hospital in Boston before going to veterinary school. She graduated from St. George's School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her fourth year at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine (Go Gators!). After working for several years in Virginia at a small animal and exotics clinic and UVA within the Department of Neurosurgery, Dr. Vail left the country life behind and has joined the DVC team in April of 2011. She Currently has a 10 year old black lab named Conan the Barbarian, and a 16 year old cat named Big D (also known as Dennis the Menace). 


Dr. Buck Drummond
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Buck Drummond is a graduate of Alexandria's Fort Hunt High School and attended the University of Georgia for both his undergraduate and veterinary education. He spent the next 20 years in the Los Angeles area specializing in emergency care, ultimately becoming the director of emergency services for a large 24-hour practice. In 2007, he traded the hustle and bustle of LA for the charm of Savannah, joining a small daytime practice which afforded him time to pursue his avocation, painting.  His first solo show entitled "Going Against the Grain: Color on Wood" received critical acclaim in Savannah's burgeoning art community. The desire to be closer to family, Dr. Drummond is the youngest of 8 children, brought him to DC and the Dupont Veterinary Clinic. He lives in Foggy Bottom with his partner Michael and their "big ol' dawg" named Lydia.


 

Dr. Tan was born in London, England, and not long after, her family moved to Canada . She graduated from The University of Glasgow with her veterinary degree (BVMS, MRCVS) in 2002. After working in Scotland at the PDSA and an emergency hospital, she briefly moved  back to Canada. Following Canada, Dr. Tan moved to Texas, where she practiced veterinary medicine in  Austin for five years. Wanting to be closer to family, Dr Tan has settled in Bethesda.


 Special veterinary interests include surgery, geriatric medicine, pain management, and dentistry.  Since last year, she has been volunteering at The National Zoo with the primates as an interpreter for visitors. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors, especially with her two large mutts Achilles and Bruisor.
